~ springing forward ~

Well, I finally finished reviewing and revising all of the patterns from my old blog. It's funny how the last of them is a spring pattern, my springy headband. Headbands were one of the first things I made for sale. I made little purses to match and was too happy when I nearly cleared my table at a local springtime craft fair. That was when I knew nothing of the vast crafty internet community. All I remember having in hand was my favorite bamboo crochet hook, cotton yarn and my trusty, all time favorite 1976 edition of the Reader's Digest Guide to Needlework. I spent a lot of time crocheting, unraveling, crocheting...

The whole experience was a great confidence booster.

So here I am again with headbands in the springtime. The headband is perfect for the springtime because it is adjustable. It's wide enough to cover the ears on chilly days, yet slim enough to be worn behind the ears on warmer days. It is the perfect canvas for many kinds of embellishments. I created the dogwood bloom for the one pictured above by using four hearts for the petals, french knots for the center and the basic chain stitch for the branch.

Spring is now in full force and I too am moving on to new things. I'm so excited and can't wait to see what will bloom next. I am finally going to get started on some larger projects like the shawl I can't wait to start and a long overdue quilt.  I look forward to experiencing and sharing plenty of crafty things with you all.

Happy Heartful Crafting,
Mia
